Welcome to the website for the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication. I’m proud to serve as president for 2008-2009 – following in the footsteps of so many visionary leaders in the field of mass communication from our area. SWECJMC is a professional, friendly organization that provides scholarship opportunities for faculty and graduate students.

SWECJMC provides research venues for scholars across the United States and the world. SWECJMC is a regional affiliate of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. Each fall, the organization hosts the Southwest Symposium on a campus of one of its member schools.
In addition, SWECJMC is the only regional mass communication organization that produces its own refereed journal. The Southwestern Mass Communication Journal is published twice a year. The best research from each year’s Symposium is published in one issue; manuscripts for the second are accepted continuously throughout the year.
